Those who view the bible as being the authoritative word of God obtain a completely different understanding of it than those who study it as merely an interesting recognized body of literature. The one searching for God's will seeks to understand exactly what is says, what it meant to the writer, and how it applies to us today. Scholars, on the other hand, usually come to the bible with an attitude of criticism.

The articles in this section are intended to assist in the understanding of how biblical authority is established, mainly by giving a number of examples. The subjects and the recommended order of reading are given below:
